Our Elders

Mission Statement

A rooted church in a confused age

Vision Statement

We aim to be a multigenerational congregation rooted in historic Christian faith, in harmony with holy Scriptures, and standing in the strength of Jesus.

We look, in a culture that's clouded and confused over what is true, good, and beautiful, to the One who is Truth incarnate, Goodness beyond grasping, and Beauty that never falters or fades.

We labor with longing in line with 2,000 years of Christian witness before us.  Therefore, in submission to the Scriptures, we gather for communion, teaching, and worship through which we behold Christ, crucified for sin and risen in glory.  We believe this is how God reconciles rebels, cleanses the compromised, heals sick souls, and grows a stubborn people into his likeness.

We call our congregation to put feet to their faith by thinking clearly, loving scrificially, and living intentionally.

We proclaim Jesus as the Lord of History, even when that allegiance jars against the temper of our times.  We do not proclaim salvation through political parties, mortal movements, or social surges, but through the Lamb of God alone.  Our message is never merely good advice-it is the glorious good news of the risen and returning King.

Marriage

We believe that marriage is the union that brings one man and one woman together in a covenant relationship meant for one lifetime as established by God between Adam and Eve in Genesis 2.24.  This is a union that is to be both faithful and fruitful (i.e., with a view to raising up children as God blesses and allows).

In true marriage a man gives what he is, his masculine self, and receives what he is not: a feminine self.  Likewise, in marriage a woman gives what she is, her feminine self, and receives what she is not: a masculine self.  In marriage, God takes these two different types of humans, and makes them one.

Our Creator fashioned the two genders and the rite of marriage to point us toward his plans for human history:  the union of Christ, the ultimate Adam, and a redeemed humanity as his bride.  Marriage is important because it is about far more than just marriage.  It is God's plan for the world.

For this reason, we only celebrate weddings in which a man and a woman desire to commit to each other faithfully for life, and as possible, to the raising up of a family.

Our Beliefs

We believe in one God,
the Father, the almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is,
seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven;
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
